Building an academic, and social, web browser
Paul Stamatiou points us to the imminent release of Firefox Campus Edition - a “back to school” version of the web browser that comes with a few add-ons geared for students.
While only one of the add-ons, Zotero (which we’ve mentioned before), has a decidedly “academic” feel to it, the concept of bundling tools in this way is intriguing. Campuses regularly offer software that is modified to fit their user base. However with the web and even browsers themselves becoming more social in nature, the idea of deploying a customized browser presents all sorts of possibilities, from bookmarklets and toolbars, to customized search bars.
If you were going to build a customized version of Firefox for your campus, what would you choose to include? Keeping in mind that you can only fit so many tools into a browser, how would you balance and blend the social and academic tools that are out there into a cohesive and useable tool for faculty and students?

Mozilla has been doing pretty well in terms of adding special features like addons to different individuals and professionals.

I think it is useless to add new fetures to browser. Instead we should create more efficient web pages.

I think this browser will not help much. Already we can add many addons to firefox. I think it will be nothing more than a marketing strategy. Hope to get more updates.

In my personal opinion & observation Firefox is the best browser, but now a days its new version is not working properly so it makes my confidence down to say that is the best browser.

Yes I agree so far till date, Firefox is the best browser I have worked, but this new version has some things which I don't like, hoping that in their next update they will get back the charm again.

This is fallacious. First of all, fountains in public spaces can be few and far between. The NY Times is running an editorial about this, urging the revival of the street-corner water fountain. Outdoor fountains are also shut off seasonally at least in temperate regions.
More to the point, soda running from free fountains or taps would be a BAD thing, not a good thing. Soda is evil and extremely unhealthy, a negative compared to bottled water in every respect, and environmentally significantly worse than water (add the artificial chemical industry and the industrial corn syrup industry to the environmental woes). Substitution of bottled water is a positive step in every regard.

I have been researching and writing about water for over 40 years, and have traveled to 15 countries to study their ancient and current water management practices, including islands in the South Pacific.
Besides that, my personal library contains over 1,000 books, never mind countless articles, videos, and DVDs on the multidimensional subject of water.
Needless to say, I am enamored by the entity of water and all that it represents to humankind and the living world.
